High-Quality Slide Scanning Service

Why Choose Our Slide Scanning Service?

Are you tired of digging through boxes of old slides to relive your precious memories? Do you want to digitize them for easy viewing and sharing with your friends and family on your favourite social-media platform, such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter? Have you thought of creating your own photo book or slide show? Look no further than Digitized Memories. We understand the importance of preserving your precious memories. That’s why we offer a professional and high-quality slide scanning service on the Gold Coast, QLD that uses advanced Nikon scanners to deliver digital files of the highest quality.

Preserve Your Precious Memories Before It’s Too Late

Unless negatives and slides are stored in archival quality sleeves in carefully controlled conditions, they will decay over time. Minute by minute, even in the dark, they are changing colour and possibly developing fungal stains in the often very humid climate of Australia. But you don’t have to let them degrade in this way.

We scan your framed slides (35 mm film or Medium format film) in first-class quality using professional NIKON film scanners. By using perfectly matched image optimisation software and manual correction by our staff, your slides are turned into digital images with natural and balanced colours.

Included in our slide scanning service

  • Dry cleaning with compressed air and antistatic brush
  • Automatic and manual image optimisation
  • Dust and scratch reduction “Digital ICE ®”
  • Correct alignment of image (up/down)
  • Saving as JPEG or TIF-file in high quality

Professional equipment

  • We only use dedicated professional slide- and film scanners. Flatbed scanners don’t meet our high demands on professional scans. Most importantly, a sophisticated film scanner does a considerably better job, as this is what is important for us!
  • Unfortunately, there is no possibility for our scanners to scan slides directly from the slide magazine. To ensure the highest quality, we process your precious slides individually. We take each slide individually from the magazine, check and clean it, scan it, and optimize it on the monitor.

High resolution and colour depth

  • Your slides and negatives will be scanned with a resolution of up to 4,000 dpi providing 20 million pixels.
  • Optionally, we scan your slides and negatives with a colour depth of 48 bits instead of 24 bits. Using a colour depth of 48 bits, the number of tones per colour channel (red, green, blue) increases from 256 to 65,536. That is to say, the total number of possible colours increases thereby from about 17 millions to an inconceivable 281 billions.
  • And even if 4,000 dpi is not enough for your purpose (e.g. you want a very large print and large prints require more pixels), we can apply Adobes’s® Super Resolution. With Super Resolution, you can meet rigorous print standards to upsample for instance a 12MP image to 48MP — equivalent to a 16” x 24” photo.

Dust and scratch removal

  • We dedust all originals and keep them in the order you sent them.
  • If technically possible, we apply the automated scratch and dust removal ICE or iSRD. In other words, by an additional infrared scan, dust, scratches, creases and fingerprints are detected and corrected automatically without losing any details of the original picture.

Individually reviewed and touched up

  • Our professional photo editing staff reviews and touches up each of your images one by one. We carefully adjust the images to achieve the optimum colour and density, ensuring each image is at its best.

No two pictures are the same, and each one presents its own challenges to the image correction. Though there is no patent remedy that always leads to a good image in every case.

We can usually correct poor brightness, colour casts, or poor contrasts quite well. However, rescuing completely unsuccessful photos due to poor shooting conditions, technical errors, or imperfect original images is extremely time-consuming and may not lead to good results. For where image information such as colour tone or sharpness is missing, one cannot “conjure up” them even with the best equipment.

You define Folder structure and file name

  • You can define the file folder structure of the scanned images
  • According to your request we name the file-batches and add an individual scan-number to each file (e.g. your-name_01, your-name_02, etc.)
  • We will save the images either in a low-compressed JPG format or in the uncompressed TIF or DNG-format.
  • The image-files will be dispatched to you on hard drive, SD-Card or USB-Stick (depending on the size of the files and your preference). If you wish, we also do it on DVD, but we don’t really recommend it.

Digitized in Australia

  • We digitize in Australia on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Some low-cost suppliers send your originals overseas for scanning there. But we process each order ourselves by our own qualified personnel and assure you that your originals don’t leave our premises.
    This means reliability for you.
