Our Photo Scanning Service
We offer a range of photo scanning services to suit your needs, including:
- Photo scanning of almost all sizes – we scan your all photos at a high resolution of at least 800 dpi. At 800 dpi you get a 3200 × 4800 digital photo out of a 4″x6″ original. Very small photos or on your request, we will scan at higher resolution up to 1200 dpi.
- Negative scanning for 35mm and medium format negatives.
- We will save the images either in a low-compressed JPG format or in the uncompressed TIF or DNG-format.
- And even if 1200 dpi is not enough for your purpose (e.g. you want a very large print and large prints require more pixels), we can apply Adobe’s® Super Resolution. With Super Resolution, you can meet rigorous print standards to upsample for instance a 12MP image to 48MP — equivalent to a 16” x 24” photo.

Individually reviewed and touched up
Our premium photo scanning service involves a thorough review and touch-up of each photo by our professional staff. We recognize the uniqueness of each image and the challenges it may present, so we carefully adjust for optimum colour and density. Our automated scratch and dust removal technology corrects any imperfections without losing details of the original picture.
However, poor brightness, colour casts, or poor contrasts can often be corrected. On the other hand, rescuing completely unsuccessful photos can be very time-consuming and may not lead to good results. This is because, in some cases, important image information may be missing and cannot be restored even with the best equipment.
At Digitized Memories we use professional-grade scanners and software to ensure the highest quality scan of your photos. Our team carefully reviews and adjusts each image to its best. We take the utmost care in handling your irreplaceable photos and will provide you with digital copies via USB or cloud storage after scanning.
You define Folder structure and file name
When you use our photo scanning service, you have control over how your scanned images are organized. You can choose the file folder structure and request specific file-naming conventions, such as adding a unique scan-number to each file.
We’ll deliver your scanned images to you on a hard drive, SD-Card or USB-Stick, depending on your preference and the file size. However, we don’t recommend using DVDs.
To make the scanning process more efficient, we suggest sending your photos to us loosely or in archive folders. Albums require more time-consuming handling and may incur an additional charge.
If your old photos have a jagged or waved frame around the actual image, we’ll only scan the inner image area. However, we can expand the scan area upon your request.

Some low-cost suppliers send your originals overseas for scanning there. But we process each order ourselves by our own qualified personnel and assure you that your originals don’t leave our premises.
