The Nikon slide scanners belong to the best photo and slide scanning equipment ever made. In other words, no other scanner has ever achieved the image quality, performance and reliability of these top scanners, except for the Hasselblad Flextight scanners.
NIKON Super Coolscan 9000 ED
The Coolscan 9000 is a multi format film scanner which is able to scan virtually everything regarding photo and film. Besides 35 mm filmstrips or mounted 35 mm slides, the several thousand dollars worth Coolscan 9000 ED can also scan medium format films (120/220) from 4,5×6 cm up to 6×9 cm gradually.
Above all it impresses with its excellent image quality, a resolution of up to 4,000dpi and a wide effective density range. The Digital ICE professional process is especially worth mentioning, because it automatically removes surface defects, such as dust and scratches, from scanned images. As a result, it makes the CoolScan 9000 one of the few film scanners that can digitize Kodachrome slides almost perfectly with ICE.
NIKON Super Coolscan 4000 ED
The Nikon Super Coolscan 4000 ED is a high-performance desktop scanner for 35 mm film, APS film and slides. Consequently, it features a 3,946-pixel sensor that scans an area of 25.2 x 38 mm (3,946 x 5,959 pixels) with an optical scanning resolution of 4,000 dpi.
In addition, a Nikkor lens with three low-dispersion glass elements and a fast and accurate autofocus system insures consistently sharp images. Moreover, the 14-bit analogue to digital conversion yields a wide dynamic range and a 48-bit colour depth.
The Super Coolscan 4000 ED like the Super Coolscan 9000 ED also offers the Digital ICE professional process, which automatically removes surface defects from scanned images, such as dust and scratches.
